The folding mechanism has been tested for 100,000+ cycles, and hidden cable routing means nothing snags or kinks when you fold.
This is genuinely useful. Hit reverse on the controller and the TK2 backs up at 2.5 MPH. In tight driveways, parking lots, or when you overshoot a parking spot, you don’t have to awkwardly drag 90 lbs of trike backwards. This is a feature most e-trikes skip, and it makes the TK2 dramatically easier to live with.
Most budget trikes have a solid rear axle — both wheels turn at the same speed, which makes corners feel unstable and tippy. The TK2 has a forged alloy rear differential that lets each rear wheel spin independently. This is the same principle that makes cars corner smoothly. Mechanical disc brakes require more hand pressure and wear faster. The TK2 uses hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors front and rear. Our take: The TK2 is the best value for flat-to-moderate terrain riding. It’s $200 cheaper than the TK Pro and adds reverse mode + the upgraded color display. If you ride hills or need maximum range, the TK Pro’s bigger motor and battery justify the upgrade. If you need fat tires for sand/gravel/mud, get the FT1.
Assembly takes about 15–20 minutes. Attach the handlebars, baskets, pedals, and backrest. Everything else is pre-wired.
The TK2 is UL 2849 certified through SGS — the most rigorous e-bike safety standard in the US. This covers electrical safety, battery integrity, and fire resistance. Not every e-trike on Amazon has this. It also means the TK2 meets the latest Consumer Product Safety Commission standards.
